How long should we keep our menstrual products on ?

Wherever you’re starting your periods for the first time or you just started using the menstrual cup, this is a small 101 guide on how long you should actually keep your menstrual protections on.

Menstrual underwear

Light flow underwear compares to 2 to 3 tampons or pads

Heavy flow underwear compare to 3 to 4 tampons or pads

Don’t forget that every one is different and how you use your menstrual underwear can vary depending your cycle. Your flow your routine ! Take time to observe and see what works best for you.

Sanitary Pads

Light flow – up to 4 hours depending on how light your flow is and how comfortable you are keeping it on.

Heavy flow up tp 2 hours especially if your busy days are abundant

Menstrual Cup

Depending on your flow, you can wear it for up to 12 hours. Always make sure to wash your hands before and after inserting it. We recommend to empty it up to 4-6 hours , if not blood piling up can cause toxic shock syndrome ( the result of leaving a tampon for longer than the time mark recommended, it is more rare when using menstrual cups)

Tampons

Up to 4-8 hours. It is important to take it off at the eight hour mark or it can cause an infection, the amount of time will ensure you that you won’t put yourself at risk. If worn during the night, remember to remove it as soon as you wake up.
